Professional Pilota Game

Join us on June 1st at 5 PM for an exciting exhibition of professional Pilota handball featuring top players from the Basque Country. The match will take place at the Basque Cultural Center, with free admission for all attendees. Following the game, a dinner will be served at 7 PM. Basque Film Series - 20th Anniversary - Lullaby

Hosted by the Basque Educational Organization, a partner of the Basque Cultural Center.

The 10:30am screening will be at the Landmark Opera Plaza Cinema, located at 601 Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco.

Dr. Pedro Oiarzabal will reprise his role of film presenter and will lead a Q&A after the screening.

Admission will be $10.

Board of Directors Applications Deadline

The elections for the Board of Directors will take place following the General Membership Meeting at 10:00 AM on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

WE WANT YOU to strongly consider running for the Board of Directors or recommending a member for nomination. Only four of the five directors will be running for re-election. All candidates are required to submit a short paragraph about why they want to be on the Board of Directors and send it to acamou3@gmail.com. All nominations and paragraphs must be submitted by May 3 in order to be on the ballot. Paragraphs should also include a photo of the candidate. Some of the duties of a Board Member are as follows:

1. Attend the monthly BCC Board of Directors’ meeting (2nd Monday evening of the month). Attendance to these meetings can happen virtually (Zoom) or in-person.

2. Attend the annual Membership Meeting (Second Sunday morning in June) and the annual membership information meeting (Second Sunday morning in November).

3. Participate in at least one committee or activity.

4. Assist in setting and/or cleaning tables or other support functions during the BCC two annual festivals: The annual anniversary which happens over the President’s day weekend in February and the annual summer festival which occurs on the weekend before Labor Day weekend in August.

5. Collect tickets during our Basque luncheons held in the banquet room.

6. Bring member's ideas/concerns to the Board.

7. Support/attendance and participation at ongoing member events. If you have any questions about running for the board please contact Alain Camou or any Board Member (listed on this page). Everyone will have an opportunity to participate in the election by mail, in person, or online.

Election rules are as follows:

1. You must be a Regular Member in good standing for one year by the general election (June 9, 2024).

2. All voters must be 21 years or older by the voting deadline by the general election (June 9, 2024).

3. 2024 dues must be paid if you wish to run for office.

4. Ballots sent by mail must be postmarked by June 5, 2024 in order to be counted.

5. 2024 dues of $30.00 must be paid in order for your Ballot to be counted.

6. On Election Day you can come in and vote at the BCC or you can vote online at www.electionrunner.com.

7. All Ballots must be submitted by 12:00 pm (noon) June 9, 2024.

8. To register to vote online, you need to send an email to Alain Camou (acamou3@gmail.com) by May 17, 2024. Voting online is more efficient and will save the BCC some expense.
