Hosted by the Basque Educational Organization.

The film Bidean Jarraituz (Following the Path) is a documentary centered on the life and career of renowned Basque film music composer, Bingen Mendizabal.

The film follows Mendizabal as he is commissioned to compose the soundtrack for a documentary about writer Bernardo Atxaga. This new assignment prompts him to reflect on his extensive career in film and music in the Basque Country from the 1980s to the present.

Through interviews and testimonies, the documentary reviews the artistic movements of that era, the important figures who emerged, and ultimately leads Mendizabal to a deeper reflection on the true meaning of success and the importance of following one's own path.

Bingen Mendizabal played at the Basque Cultural Center on October 10th, 2004, alongside Mikel Urdangarin, Rafa Rueda, Kirmen Uribe & Elizabeth MacKlin. They performed a multimedia set of songs from the CD “Zaharregia, Txikiegia Agian” (Too Old, Too Small Maybe), whose lyrics are Kirmen Uribe poems. Click here to see a clip from this performance.

2022, directed by Aitor López de Aberásturi, 90 minutes, in Euskara and Spanish with English subtitles.
